I doubt that either Proteus or Smudger will return. When the mid sodor closed Smudger was either sold as scrap or (in the case of the TV series) buried under the soil and mud that buried Duke's shed. As for Proteus, seein' as Skarloey tell's his tale in past-tense he's probably gone now... Anyway this is probably HiT and LC's attempt at makin' a quick buck by releasin' these characters. And it's workin', I am so gettin' Smudger.
